The people involved were John P. Eckert and John W. Mauchy, and in 1946 at the University of Pennsylvania, they invented the ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Calculator) because the army had a need for something to calculate artillery firing tables. the army gave the two guys some money and a room and said go make it. however the ENIAC was built for World War II, its completion wasn't until after we won World War II. Once it was completed, its first task was to do calculations to help construct a hydrogen bomb
